Selenium

Selenium is a trace mineral that is found in Brazilian nuts, whole grains, yeast and seafood. There are studies that have selenium to be protective against cancer, it may have antioxidant activities to protect against stroke and heart attacks. Selenium has antiviral activity, it is capable of detoxifying heavy metal toxins such as mercury and cadmium. Recommended dosage range is 50-200 mcg per day, however, higher doses are warranted in certain conditions such as: cancer, acute inflammation, the higher doses should only be given under a supervision of a physician.
